CCGROUNDWORK

Since 2003, the Canadian Cowgirls have become renowned for their musical performances, which dazzle audiences across North America with their precision riding, stunning costumes, and dangerous and daring manoeuvres. This elite precision drill team, hailing from the municipality of Chatham-Kent, Ontario, consists of twenty-eight passionate, spectacular women and their twenty-eight smart, strong horses.

Their strong sense of family, fellowship, and community is what connects them so tightly with their audience – reaching out, resonating, and reminding us what it means to be Canadian! The brave and beautiful horses on the team are just as diverse in looks and personality as the country they represent, with a variety of different breeds including the Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Arabian, Paint, and the dependable grade horse.

The Canadian Cowgirls have had the honour and the privilege of performing for audiences including HRH Charles Prince of Wales, and Camilla Duchess of Cornwall, as well as Canadian ice-hockey commentator Don Cherry, comedian and television personality Rick Mercer, and others. They have won several prestigious awards, such as “Best Horse Entry” and “Best Formal Coloured Guard Entry” at the Calgary Stampede Parade, and “Best Equestrian Entry” at the Indy 500 Parade in Indianapolis.

When it comes to the live shows, they have performed for the Canadian Armed Forces, opened Olympic-class jumping competitions and Canada Day celebrations, and toured the USA and Canada extensively. They are also the only Canadian riders who have ever been invited to the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California – the cowgirls and their horses performed there January 2013.

Most importantly, the Canadian Cowgirls know how the symbolic grace and elegance of the horse uplifts and inspires the soul, and have made it their aim to share this experience with others. For this reason, they have designated the Acceptional Riders Therapeutic Riding Program as the charity of their choice, and donate many volunteer hours to give a leg-up to riders in need.

With their hearts on their sleeves and their maple leafs raised high, the Canadian Cowgirls are stampeding your way!
